AI Literacy in 2025: A Guide For Parents & Teachers
As we kick off 2025, it's clear that the world of work is evolving faster than ever due to the rate of AI adoption. So how do you prepare the next generation for this?
Hello Parents and Teachers š
I know you want to help your young people navigate their futures with confidence, and to do so, you need to know more about AI Literacy.
1. The Rise of AI in the Workplace
AI isn't just a buzzword or a tool for making super-fast videos and images for TikTok and Instagram. It's becoming a core part of workplace roles across industries. By 2025, over 70% of businesses are expected to use AI in their daily operations. Here are two examples:
Content Creation: Generative AI tools like ChatGPT and Midjourney are revolutionising content creation. These tools generate blog posts, social media content, and full marketing campaigns quickly, helping brainstorm new ideas, make plans and refine drafts. We've embraced these tools at miFuture, and the turnaround on creative tasks is lightning quick.
Automating Tasks: AI tools are automating repetitive tasks like scheduling meetings, managing emails, and organising documents. AI-driven systems can filter emails, manage calendars, and draft responses to common queries, freeing up time for more human needed tasks. We're just starting to understand the power of Co-Pilot at miFuture, and I canāt wait to automate as much as possibleā¦ particularly my email inbox!
š”Tip: The adoption of AI isnāt about robots in the workplace; itās aboutā¦
The tools that help make us efficient. Encourage your young people to have a go at these platforms and start building AI literacy and confidence for future employers.
2. Job Market Transformation
Hereās some high level context. The job market is shifting, the World Economic Forum predicts that while 85 million jobs may be lost to automation, 97 million new roles will emerge. These new jobs will likely need skills in AI, machine learning, and data analysis. Careers like AI specialists, machine learning engineers, and data scientists will be in high demand. Plus, roles that involve managing and interpreting AI systems will become super important.

3. The Importance of Skills Building
I canāt emphasise this enough!! (So, Iāll give it two exclamation points) Your young people need to focus on pre-skilling and upskilling. AI literacy is not in the curriculum, and in some education settings, the use of AI is even banned. So yeah, they have some upskilling to do.
Areas of focus should be:
Digital Literacy: The ability to navigate and create information using digital platforms and programs like smartphones, tablets, internet browsers, social media, productivity software, communication tools, and cloud services.
AI Literacy: The understanding and ability to prompt and generate results through AI to achieve workplace tasks.
š”Tip: To build AI literacy, I would encourageā¦
š§āš» Continuous Learning: Keep up with the developments in workplace AI and related skills. Iāll do my best to share updates through this newsletter. We must become continuous learners; this goes for everyone.
š ļø Apply the Skills: Encourage young people to start building their AI literacy; this helps them become workplace ready. Itāll also lay the foundation to build more advanced skills in AI, data science, and other emerging tech if they wish to do so. We post one daily on our Facebook and Instagram.
So, there you have it! AI is here to stay, and we must become AI literate. By staying informed, developing relevant skills, and embracing lifelong learning, our young people prepare for the future workplace.
Thanks for reading, and letās keep the conversation going
